Other MsdC Applications
The medEncounter Application Suite The medEncounter clinical application series is an integrated point-of-care information system designed by leading information technologists in cooperation with leading medical clinical personnel. Typically known as an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Electronic Health Record (EHR), Computerized Patient Record (CPR) and other nomenclatures, MsdC has years of experience supporting the key information resource in any medical setting - the integrated patient record. The overall goal of medEncounter is to provide clinicians, staff and medical administrators with powerful, easy-to-use tools that safely and securely assist in obtaining and using patient information - no matter where it may reside in the enterprise.
Approximately 95% of healthcare information is clinical ● Electronic Medical Record (EMR) information systems are a strategic resource
medEncounter
applications are designed to automate the process of
obtaining, storing and searching all types of
clinical data in a highly secure, codified and
structured medical record data warehouse. This
information is then available for immediate care
needs, billing, reporting, analysis and research.
medEncounter solutions are based on 19 years of outstanding clinical success with the highly reliable MsdC THERESA® EMR clinical information system. The THERESA application suite is in operation at one of the largest hospitals in the U.S.A. - Grady Health Systems (GHS) in Atlanta, Georgia. The system is relied upon daily by hundreds of concurrent users for point-of-care delivery and research. The system integrates information from various ancillary systems into a global patient information repository and contains over 58 billion permanently online patient documents. These are integrated searchable medical records reaching back to 1983.

To be effective and efficient, clinical information systems must be designed for the specific user environment. We provide solutions in a cost-efficient manner with our medEncounter clinical software application building blocks. The medEncounter application suite is a unique set of flexible and powerful computer applications that were developed in a working clinical environment in conjunction with leading-edge information technologists. The base system is built upon our medDataSafe and medAnalyze foundation products. The system is flexible in how it can be implemented and is designed to interface with other systems in a clinical environment. Each medical specialty uses customized information entry applications called medEntry. Each medEntry encounter screen subsystem may be customized to match each customer's unique needs. Supporting the medEncounter application suite is our HL7-based communications infrastructure. medIntegrator is MsdC's application interface toolkit used to build robust communications interfaces to a variety of applications so that clinical information can be integrated into a comprehensive patient record. Further this will provide a single point of integration to issue orders and to obtain medOrder results. Information obtained in the encounter process, from transcriptions and/or from other ancillary clinical systems, are permanently stored in the medDataSafe database management system via the medIntegrator HL7 interface(s). This information is then immediately accessible through medEntry specialty applications, medSummary or by using the decision support tools of the medAnalyze application. Users interact with medEncounter applications through an intuitive and familiar document format. Further the medEncounter documents are designed to assist with signs and symptoms patient encounter engagement protocols (Subjective, Objective, Assessment & Plan - SOAP). This approach more nearly represents a natural method for ergonomic human/machine interaction (e.g. the clinician using the computer system).
Establishing an electronic medical record system provides rapid access to patient records that are entered into the system. However if you are transitioning from a paper-based patient record system you will have two sources of medical records with which to contend. MsdC, in cooperation with our document imaging solution partners, can provide an EMR solution that includes a medical record image archive allowing access to all previous paper records in the form of scanned digital images. These scanned records are indexed to each patient's EMR and accessible from medEncounter applications. In this manner, clinicians, administrators and staff can access all records present and past. MsdC can provide a turnkey solution or the equipment and software to accomplish the design and implementation of the image archive.
The system can help you integrate information from other medical applications and ancillary data sources (e.g. pharmacy, lab, admission/discharge systems etc.) into your patient records for instant recall and for all types of searches and research. This includes both inpatient and outpatient information systems so that a lifetime longitudinal record is created and maintained. MsdC's electronic signature capability allows clinicians to sign-off electronically on a patient encounter and/or document thus creating a secure and legally recognized signature. In order to capture all due revenue medEncounter is designed to associate billing code relationships so that the encounter systems can automatically generate billing codes (e.g.CD-9, others) to support an existing billing system or integrate with a new billing system.
Implementation is key to success. Our project team customizes and integrates your clinical processes, business logic and patient information into a united enterprise-wide system. Our project management methodology assures complete planning and on-time execution of the project plan. medEncounter's performance is based on the use of highly secure UNIX servers and networks and work in conjunction with PC or Apple MAC workstations to build highly scalable enterprise-wide clinical information systems.
